A one-day workshop on the interpretation of Lowland and Border bagpipe music, hosted by Pete Stewart.
This new publication from the Society includes not only all the entries to this year's New Music competition, but also a selection of tunes composed during the past 30 years.
The December 2013 issue of Common Stock is now available to members online, containing the usual miscellany of music, history, advice, discussion and news of events, including results and winning entries in the New Music Competition and 30th Anniversary Collogue Report.
Applications are invited for the Spring 2014 award of the LBPS development grants. Thes grants were introduced in the spring of 2012 for the financial support of projects which will advance the Society’s aims, viz. the promotion of Lowland / Border music and the playing of cauld wind pipes. Awards will be considered on April 19th and should be submitted to arrive by Friday, March 31st
We are delighted to announce the results of the 30th Anniversary New Music Competition. Results were first announced at the Peebles Collogue where the first two winning entries were performed by their composers [the thrid prize went to the USA]
First prize: Gary West - 'The Jedburgh Ba' Game'
Second prize: Paul Roberts - 'The Gin Drinker's Dream'
Third Prize: Craig Hohm - 'The Waterdog'.
