Most events are open to the public, in the context of music festivals, and are a great opportunity to present bellows piping to an wider audience.

28 years of Lowland and Border piping competitions

At this year's competition, held on Saturday April 2nd in Edinburgh, the winner of the open class for Lowland/Border pipes was Paul Roberts. This year was the 28th competition. The very first Lowland and Border Pipers' competition was held at the School of Scottish Studies in Edinburgh in 1984. The winner then was Paul Roberts.
