This month it has been proposed that the net be widened a bit; the subject is 'hornpipe' but it's up to you how you interpret it!

glad you enjoyed them; why do they sound French? possibly because the only simple three-time dance we're left with apart from the waltz is the three-time bourree. possibly because I'm stepping a bourree while I 'm playing. there's a lovely description by Edward Thompson [1775] of minuet dancing in Edinburgh which he describes as the 'galloping minuet'; that's what I'm going for ...

Not exactly a hornpipe, but the nearest I get currently to a common time one; from Matt Seattle's 'Over the Hills and Far Away'; the tune first appeared in 1759; now known in Northumberland as 'Till the Tide Comes In'
