I'm very interested in the tune contest. The description doesn't say what types of sound files are acceptable- MP3, I'd imagine, but what about MIDI or XML for composers who are not also players (or whose playing is not up to the level of their writing?), AIff, MP4?
All the best,

We're currently looking at the answer to your question, the objective being to be as inclusive as possible while retaining the point of the soundfile, ie to indicate aspects of the composer's ideas that might not be clear from a notation. Any soundfile would need to be able to express these [a crude midi generated from abc, say, might not be adequate, whereas an audio file generated by Sibelius probably would]. Hopefully we will be able to post specifications later this week.
