I'm a piper from California. I play gaita, medieval style pipes, and French (g & d) pipes. Found this site because a friend loaned me "Love and a Bottle" by Jon Swyane and Becky Price. (I'd been playing some Blowzabella tunes on pipes and hurdy gurdy.) One of the tunes I wanted to learn was "Little Wee Winking Thing". Which caused me to buy the Dixon book.

I'm part of a group that does Morris Dancing and Playford dancing, and also play French dance music. Which has lead me to think a fair amount about tunes in 3,6,9 (waltz, mazurka, 3/2 hornpipes, bourree, polska, jota, muneira) so I found the articles (I suppose by Pete Stewart?) good reading.

Anyway I'm interested in the border material and hope you'll tolerate someone who isn't a 'real' border piper.

Hi & welcome
anyone playing Dixon can count themselves an honorary border piper; did you find the video [in the resources pages] of Jon playing little wee winking thing? It's here

That must have been really frustrating - when I read your post I went and checked the video before replying and found the link was broken-

Brunokev,

Welcome...where are you located? I'm just above Santa Barbara in Solvang.

If you're ever this way let's get together for a pint and a tune.

JD
