Steenie Steenson submitted a rant for this issue which even for him we felt was over the top; we have withheld it while he responds to our request that he check carefully the facts he says he remembers.

In the meantime, and in accord with the celebratory character of this issue, here are three images from the archive, and one submitted by Jim Gilchrist which accompanied his article in the Countryman Magazine in 1976, or was it 1977?- Readers are invited to identify these figures. A clue: two of them appear elsewhere in this issue; one of them has appeared several times, but has not been seen for two or three years now; I don’t think the fourth has ever appeared in this journal, though both he and his pipes get a mention in this issue.
