Welcome to the LBPS Website

Since 1983, the Lowland and Border Pipers' Society has been promoting and celebrating the music of the Lowland pipes or Border pipes (two names for the same instrument) and the Scottish smallpipes. We support the playing, manufacture and development of these instruments by publishing tune books, staging events and producing our twice-yearly journal Common Stock.

The LBPS website offers a wealth of material for anyone interested in Lowland and Border piping, including news and event updates, articles on the history and repertoire of the pipes, tuition videos, pipe maintenance guides and much more. Members have access to recent issues of our journal Common Stock, shop discounts and reduced event prices.

We hope you find this site useful and if you have any queries, suggestions or find errors, please contact us. We also have a Facebook page and manage an active Facebook group where all matters relating to Lowland and Border piping are discussed.

The image here is adapted from the engraving by James Kay depicting Geordie Syme, the town piper of Dalkeith and 'a famous piper in his time'; read more about him here. Geordie has been the emblem of the society for many years.
