Held at different locations throughout Scotland this event combines the presentation of papers, playing and listening to tunes with meeting old friends and generally enjoying a day of piping in a convivial atmosphere.

The AGM is held during the collogue. The Society is run by volunteers and is always pleased to hear from anyone willing to join the committee or who would take on organising one of the events.

LBPS Annual Collogue, AGM and Evening Concert - Saturday 8th October 2022

This year’s Collogue and AGM will take place in Perth on Saturday, 8th October. This will be the first visit of the Society to the town. The venue will be the historic Royal George Hotel on George Street. There will also be a concert in the evening at the same venue.

The Collogue and AGM (9.00 for 9.30)

The Collogue will comprise some interesting presentations, sessions and the AGM.

We will have four presentations - three before the AGM and one after – and we will end the afternoon with a session, so please bring your pipes. The sheet music for the tunes we will be playing can be found by clicking on this link.

The presentations and their speakers are:

  • Matt Seattle – 25 Years Since Dixon. (We hope to have the manuscript on the day.)
  • Stuart Letford – The Toun Pipers of Perth (and Perthshire rich’s piping tradition).
  • Lindsay Davidson - On Teaching Bagpipes (and an update on the degree course in Poland).
  • Pete Clark – as interviewed by Convenor, Stuart Letford on the subject of Perthshire’s rich musical tradition, from Niel Gow to Gordon Duncan.

The Evening Concert (19.30)

In the evening we will mark the LBPS’ first ever visit to Perth with a concert. We have a superb line-up of artists for this:

  • Fionnlagh MacVicar from North Uist. Fionnlagh, who is in the second year of the piping degree course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, opened our show at last month’s PipingLive! concert.
  • Kyle Howie of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Kyle is a superb performer on bellows pipes as well as highland pipes.
  • The Vale of Atholl Pipe Band (quartet)
  • Pete Clark and Iain MacInnes
  • Fin Moore and Brighde Caimbeul

Tickets for the Collogue and Concert are £10 for each event and can be purchased on the door on the day or booked using the booking form below.
